Hyperboards Privacy Policy:
It is our strong belief that your personal information is your personal property and that you should be able to disclose your personal information at your own discretion. Thus, Hyperboards will only ask you to provide us with enough personal information necessary for the creator of your forum or member account. The following document is a more in-depth description of our privacy policy.
- What information we gather:
The kind of personal information the Hyperboards service will be collecting from all users will be their email address and birthday. This information is collect directly from the user (and not through the use of cookies). Users have ability to hide their email address and birthday from the public, giving the user the power of discretion.
- How we use gathered information:
The collected information will not be used for marketing back to the user. The user s email is required and will only be used by the Hyperboards service for forum related material (reply notifications, password reminder, forum activation, user account activation, and Hyperboards updates, special events, and contest winners). The birthday is required in order for the forum to process each user correctly, and the user age is determined based on the date given for the birthday field. All other personal information is optional.
- For your protection:
The personal information collected is not disclosed to third parties. Additionally, all required personal information may be hidden from the public.
- Server Logged Information:
Whenever a user views a page located on Hyperboards, the Apache Web server automatically logs certain information about the visitor. This information includes the user's IP address, browser, and where the user came from. This is standard information collected by most web servers. This information will not be disclosed to third parties.
- Public Forums:
Please keep in mind that any information you choose to disclose in forums hosted by Hyperboards becomes public information. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. Remember that you have the option to refrain from including personal information, and you have the option to hide all required personal information.
- IP Logging:
When a user posts a message on a forum hosted by Hyperboards, their IP address is automatically logged with that post. The administrator of the forum has the ability to view IP addresses when reading the posts in the forum.
- Cookies:
Hyperboards uses cookies to store usernames and passwords for users when accessing forums. When logging into a forum, users have the option to set the length in minutes until the cookie expires, or to let the cookie last indefinitly.
- Forum Monitoring:
Hyperboards reserves the right to monitor any and all message forums located on our server. Our staff reserves the right to access any and all password protected boards in order to ensure the content does not violate the user agreement view the contents of those boards, as well as the right to remove forums, or sections of forums that are found in violation of aforementioned agreement.
- Modifications to our policy:
Hyperboards reserves the right to update and revise this privacy policy at any time.
